History: Although officially the Libertarian Party was founded in 1971 in Colorado, the foundation for modern day Libertarianism can be traced back to the principles that dominated the Enlightenment Era, self determination, personal responsibility, and individual liberty maximized by a limited authority (government). Its these principles that were deeply instilled in America's settlers and forefathers. America is a country founded in Libertarianism.
